WhatsApp growing too big for Facebook!

Facebook has over a billion users while its baby is going to become a billion member pretty soon. The instant messaging app WhatsApp is not the only threat set to take on the mighty and unbeatable social networking giant Facebook. There is another instant messaging app in the form of WeChat that is fast becoming too big to contain.
The latest report comes from a reliable organization Global Web Index (GWI). And the news is not good for Facebook. The social networking site that has killed the competition in the field has been feeling the heat from these instant messaging apps. Facebook’s stock is also facing some heat as despite massive reach, monetizing is still an issue for the company. Its stock is trading at around $77 significantly down from what it was some two months ago.
facebook-android appWhat’sApp has around 700 million users and the way it is expanding and becoming indispensible for all smartphone users, it is anybody’s guess that it will leave behind Facebook. This may be the reason that the company bought it for as much as $18billion. The latest GWI report says that most people now using use one of these instant messaging apps to communicate with their friends, relatives and closed ones rather than posting on their Facebook wall or inbox message.whatsapp
The sample of the survey was large and as many as 42000 people were interviewed in Asia including 5000 in India alone. A normal FB user login his account to check what all is going in his friends’ timeline. According to GWI, free access to these messaging apps is key reason behind rising disinterest of users for Facebook.
