Woman abducted and raped by fake policemen.
Sivaganga: Two persons, who masqueraded as policemen, allegedly abducted and raped a woman while she was talking to her friend near here, police said.

The two men in police uniform accosted the two, who were talking to each other at a deserted place on the Karaikudi-Pudukottai road last evening.
They questioned them and took the woman forcibly from the place after beating up her companion. The man contacted the nearby Chettinad police station in panic. Police told him no one from their station was on patrol duty in the area.
Meanwhile, the two persons dropped the woman at Karaikudi new bus stand. Police rescued her and during investigation they found that the woman had been raped, police said, adding that a search was on for the duo.

Anna Hazare postpones his march to Delhi against Land Bill.
Social activist Anna Hazare postponed his march to Delhi against Centre's controversial Land Acquisition Bill.
His 'padyatra' was to begin at the end of this month.
Hazare said that the padyatra (footmarch) has been postponed following representations from farmers that the schedule clashed with their field work.
"Anna said there were several representations from farmers and farmers organisations that the padyatra schedule clashed with their farm work and also warning about the high temperature in April," his aide Datta Awari told PTI over phone from Ralegan Siddhi.
Also, the recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms was another reason for postponement, he said.
"The padyatra will be held after one or one and a half months. The new dates will be announced later," Awari said.
Hazare had earlier this month announced that he would set off on his 'padyatra' against the land bill from Sevagram village on March 25.
The padyatra was scheduled to begin from Gandhi Ashram at Sewagram in Wardha and end at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi.
Hazare addressed a meeting of volunteers at Ralegan Siddhi on Tuesday and asked the youth to come forward to build the country. Politics and political parties won't solve the problems India faces but the youth can, he said.
Hazare had recently said if the land bill gets passed in Rajya Sabha, then people will have to show that "people's parliament" is supreme, while also indicating that he was ready for talks with the government.

Parts of India's Daughter were chopped to make it India-centric: Leslee Udwin.
Leslee Udwin, director of the controversial BBC documentary based on Delhi gangrape has said that some parts of the movie were chopped to make it India-centric.
In an exclusive interview with Headlines Today, the British filmmaker said that the documentary- "India's Daughter" is a documentary on woman's rights and the international version ends with rape statistics around the world.
She said that the documentary film celebrates the "Indian spirit".
"No other country including the UK where so many rapes happen has ever stood up like this where people come on the streets to demand justice", Udwin added.
Earlier this month, Avinendra Pandey, Nirbhaya's friend and the sole witness to the ghastly incident had called Udwin's documentary fake. Countering his charges, Udwin said that she tried everything, including begging, to get his interview, but he refused. "He wanted money but I refused to pay", she said.
While answering a question about the claims made by authorities that she breached conditions of shooting inside Delhi's Tihar Jail, she said, "I have papers to prove that Tihar never asked for editorial control or the edited version to be shown.. the deal was just for the raw footage of the jail.. which we showed.. but I also took the final edited version that was to be viewed by a three-member committee.. two did not come and one person refused to view the footage alone".
Udwin also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to see her film as it is in line with his objectives of 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao'.
"This documentary is a movement.. I want people all over the world to come out on the streets for women's issues like India did", Udwin said.
She said that film has been received very well across the world and people of Indian should also be allowed to watch it.

Class XI student sent to 14 days judicial remand for Facebook post against Azam Khan.
The Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday arrested a class XI student of Woodrow School in Bareilly district for allegedly posting a fake comment on Facebook, attributed to Samajwadi Party leader and Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister Azam Khan.
Police in Rampur arrested the boy and kept him in police lock-up at the Ganj Kotwali outpost after Khan's media in-charge Fasahat Ali lodged an FIR against him.
"I informed the police that this person has posted controversial and inflammatory post in the name of Mr Khan which is a lie. It has hurt the feelings of both Hindus and Muslims and malign Mr Khan's image," the complainant said.
The student has been booked under Section 66A of the Information Technology Act (for sending offensive messages through a computer), as well as other sections of the Indian Penal Code including for breach of peace.
However, the student pleads innocence regarding the incident.
According to Rampur SP Sadhna Goswami, during interrogation, the boy told the cops that he did not understand the real meaning of what he was posting.

Chant Vande Mataram or leave India, says VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi
Firebrand VHP leader Sadhvi Prachi on Tuesday unleashed a fresh controversy by saying those who do not chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' and 'Vande Mataram' have no right to live in the country.
While addressing a religious gathering at Bahraich district in UP, she said, "Those who do not chant, 'Bharat Mata ki Jai', 'Vande Mataram', insult the national flag and those indulge in cow slaughter have no right to live in India."
She also said those having more than two children should be barred from casting votes.
"A law should be framed to scrap the voting rights of such people irrespective of the religion," said Sadhvi Prachi.

Attention women riders: Not wearing helmet, get ready for challan.
1.2 lakh Delhi women challaned for not wearing helmets.
The Delhi Police has issued challans against 1,22,523 women riders and pillion riders for not wearing helmets, during the last six months.
“Wearing of helmets by women riders and pillion riders is compulsory in NCT of Delhi. Delhi Police is strictly enforcing the mandatory use of helmet for women riders and pillion riders,” Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary told Lok Sabha in reply to a written question on Tuesday.
The minister said regular road safety campaigns are undertaken by the Delhi Police to promote mandatory use of helmet for women while driving or sitting pillion.
Press advertisements have also been released in the leading newspapers for guidance of women riders and pillion riders in the NCT of Delhi, he said.

Bajaj Chetak comeback: 5 things to know
Bajaj Auto may soon launch the next generation scooters under the Chetak brand, which made it a household name for decades.
According to an EconomicTimes.com report, the Pune-based two-wheeler maker has re-registered the brand name and is looking to launch scooters under the brand with modern features and specifications.
Bajaj Auto has reported a 21 per cent decline in motorcycle sales at 2,16,077 units in February 2015. The company had sold 2,73,323 units in the year-ago period.
A comeback of the Chetak brand, much-loved and trusted by Indians - could well boost the company's market share in the scooter segment, which it has lost to TVS Motors.
Here are 5 things you need to know:
- Bajaj Chetak is named after Indian warrior Rana Pratap Singh's famous horse 'Chetak'.
- It was the most affordable two-wheeler for the masses during 70s, 80s and 90s.
- Chetak was launched in the year 1979 and continued to rule the two-wheelers market for over two decades. The company ended its production in 2009.
- The new 120-125 cc Chetak is reported to sport four-stroke, single-cylinder and air-cooled engine.
- The upgraded scooters are speculated to be unveiled in Auto Expo 2016.
